SUMMARY:Kimberli Cummings
DESCRIPTION:\nCeramics\n\n\n\nARTIST BIO\n\n\n\nKimberli Cummings began her love for pottery at Tampa’s Clay Factory in 1991. She was drawn to the Clay Factory because of its sign, which she saw every day on her drive home, that read, “Come on and call, you know you’ve always wanted this!” \n\n\n\nKimberli studied with many local and internationally recognized potters. Among these artists were Robert Pipenberg, Paul Soldner, Peter Voulkos, Scott L. Aubrey, and Rudy Autio. \n\n\n\nKimberli’s Tango Dancer ceramic series was featured on HGTV’s That’s Clever. Her work is collected in England, France, Spain, and the United States, and has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts and Tampa Museum of Art.\n\n\n\nShe is a founding member of the Tampa Tour de Clay, is on the Board of Florida CraftArt, and has served as a three-term past president of Las Damas de Arte, raising money and awareness for emerging artists in Hillsborough County. \n\n\n\nShe is a member of the Creatives Exchange (an artist collective), and is represented by Henry Plant Museum gift shop in Tampa and the Florida CraftArt Gallery.\n\n\n\nKimberli resides in Tampa.\n\n\n\nARTIST STATEMENT\n\n\n\nMy work used to have a dark, brooding feel, which I’ve traded for happier majolica glazes, thanks to Linda Arbuckle’s in-depth training in portrayals of sunsets and gardens of fruit. This glaze decoration technique requires many hours of detail work for fine line quality. I use wax combined with a lot of storytelling. Colorful fruit, flowers, \n
