Meet Berit Hines
Berit Hines is a ceramist currently residing in Largo and originally from Bremen, Germany. Berit’s passion for art and clay began at a young age. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Art and Design in Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics. In 1999, Berit made the transition from Europe to the U.S.
Each composition of Berit’s work is brought to life with spontaneity and immediacy, discovering the form during the process of making. Her motto is “Listening to what your hands want to make.” Berit’s work continues to explore form, using surface decoration and texture as an integral part of the piece. Hand building and throwing techniques create series of one-of-a-kind vessels and sensual sculptural forms in stoneware.
National Juried Shows include Morean Arts Center, Florida Craft Art Gallery, Beth-El Art Festival, all in St. Petersburg, and in Michigan, Kansas, California and New York.
