Meet Emily Stehle
Emily Stehle is a Clearwater-based mixed media artist. Originally from NY and New Jersey, Emily holds a B.A. in Journalism from Northeastern University. While enjoying a long, professional career in media relations, marketing and event planning, Emily always made time for her creative pursuits in the fiber arts. She has been weaving for more than twenty years, and is a long-standing member of the Tampa Bay Basketmakers Guild, including in leadership and volunteer roles. As a contemporary basket maker, Emily is known for her creative artistry and use of untraditional ‘random weave’ method with unconventional materials, including papers and fibers that are considered discards. Her beautiful, functional and decorative sculptures have earned Emily numerous awards, including Gasparilla Festival of the Arts Emerging Artist 2018, Florida CraftArt Emerging Artist 2017, and multiple awards over several years at the Florida State Fair.
