A collaboration between Keep St. Pete Lit and Florida CraftArt
Though storytelling is often a verbal or written presentation, stories surround us in every detail of our lives. Our imaginations soar when we see a whimsical piece, childhood memories are triggered by certain colors and shapes, textures remind us of another time in our lives.
This exciting juried exhibition of original artwork by more than 35 artists showcases work based on creatures-wild, exotic, domesticated, imaginary and mythical. This exhibition is dedicated to the late sculptor Paul Eppling who created amazing wild creatures.
Participants will write a one page ekphrastic story or poem inspired by Florida Craft Arts’ exhibition, Creatures Wild and Wooly.
THIS CLASS WILL MEET AT FLORIDA CRAFT ART to view the 74 pieces on display.
You will pick the piece that most inspires you (no two writers will write about the same piece) and after viewing the work we will go to a classroom above the gallery to flesh out our thoughts/writing. Participants will then perform their work at the closing reception for Creatures Wild and Wooly on Saturday, August 5 (5:30pm) at Florida Craft Art.
