Florida CraftArt presents an exhibition of shapely conversations between the work of four established Florida artists:
Edgar Sanchez Cumbas, Kendra Frorup, Babette Herschberger and Charles Parkhill
Curated by Katherine Gibson of Arthouse3
Edgar Sanchez Cumbas: “Stacked objects, scraps of canvas take on new form when combined with other shapes and materials in my studio. What started out as playful relief has become my ongoing ‘cabinet of curiosities.’ “
Kendra Frorup: “From my Bahamian heritage comes a sense of identity, sensibility and a strong work ethic. I have always been interested in the influences of culture on expression.”
Babette Herschberger: ”My Tidbit Series is a study that utilizes informal materials, such as found cardboard, product packaging, etc., where I interpret the unnatural interruptions of the world with a focus on minimal composition, process, surface and color.”
Charles Parkhill: “I like to use wood that’s reclaimed, and what I come across often dictates what I’m going to make. The best forms resist the specific.”
