Tapestry Visions X 4
Tapestry Weavers: Lynn Mayne, John Nicholson, Becky Stevens and Terri Stewart
Tapestry Artists of Sarasota (TAOS) is composed of four experienced tapestry artists who came together in 1997 with the shared interest of exhibiting work and promoting the art of handwoven tapestry. Members Becky Stevens, John Nicholson, Lynn Mayne and Terri Stewart are studio artists individually pursuing the design and production of original tapestries. Each creates work that gives voice to his/her concerns, beliefs or the joys they find in their lives. Some work with realistic imagery, some with abstraction.
The tapestries in “Tapestry Visions X 4” represent a commitment to expression and image making. Those images and ideas woven in the colorful textures of wool as well as silk, cotton and simulated computer wires, show a depth of color and textures available only in this medium. The four artists featured each demonstrate skills and expertise in weaving shapes and colors.
