Florida CraftArt announces 99 Bottles, a juried exhibition inviting artists from across the country to explore the bottle as both a form and an idea. Featuring works in glass, ceramics, wood, fibers, and mixed media, the show celebrates the creativity and craftsmanship behind this timeless object.
Bottles are full of meaning—whether holding emotions, carrying a message across the waves, spinning at the center of a game, displaying a miniature ship, or hinting at the magic of a genie inside. Inspired by the catchy tune, 99 Bottles brings together imaginative and skillful takes on this classic shape. Juror: Rachel Rearick, Executive Director of Contemporary Craft, Pittsburgh
Juror’s Statement by Rachel Rearick
“It was an honor to be asked to serve as the juror for the 99 Bottles exhibition at Florida Craft Art. There were an incredible amount of entries submitted, which made the process enjoyable and at the same time quite difficult. I was particularly drawn to a number of works, and had the intention of making selections that would allow for the opportunity to showcase as many small collections from individual artists as possible. Taking the title into play, it became important to me to try and create a mass of bottles, while also selecting objects that would have a visual conversation with one another. I hope that viewers enjoy this grouping of bottles, and I want to thank all of the artists that participated.”
