x1000

Exhibition Dates: August 8 – September 12, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 8
Location:
Florida CraftArt, 501 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, FL

Florida CraftArt presents x1000, a curated exhibition highlighting artists who work with duplicable processes such as mold‑making, printmaking, and other methods that allow ideas to be produced in multiples. We are specifically seeking submissions that incorporate repetition, variation, or editioning through multiple related works or objects.

This exhibition brings together works that use repetition as both technique and concept, emphasizing how form and meaning evolve through iterative creation. Across the exhibition, subtle variations accumulate to reveal new interpretations. By exploring how repetition transforms an idea over time, x1000 invites viewers to consider the creative potential of multiplicity and the ways repeated forms can challenge assumptions about originality and artistic intent.

What happens when an artist decides that one isn’t enough?

Florida CraftArt presents x1000, an exhibition exploring artists who embrace repetition as both process and idea.
Some work with mold-making, printmaking, casting, and other techniques that allow an artwork to exist in multiples. Others return to the same form, image, or gesture again and again, using repetition itself as a way of thinking, questioning, and discovering.
Seen together, these works reveal that repetition isn’t simply about making more. Each iteration creates an opportunity for change. Small shifts accumulate. Patterns emerge. Meaning evolves.
In a world filled with copies, reproductions, and endless digital images, x1000 asks us to look more closely. What happens when an idea is repeated? When does another become different? Can making the same thing again and again reveal something entirely new?
Rather than diminishing creativity, repetition becomes a tool for experimentation, refinement, and surprise, demonstrating that some of the most compelling discoveries happen not in a single moment of inspiration, but through returning to an idea again and again.
